According to this report, New York state has the highest (oldest) median age of housing stock (62 years old), followed by Rhode Island (58) and Mass. (57). Rounding out the list of states with older housing stock is right here, Pennsylvania (54), where I’m from originally, New Jersey (52), and in line with New Jersey are Connecticut, Iowa, and Ohio, each with a median age of housing stock around 52 years.
States with the lowest median age of housing stock states are ones that have more growth recently- NC, SC, GA, AZ, TX, UT, ID, and NV, all with median housing stock age in their 20s and looking young
